Check out our successes
Here's just some of our list of successful projects
in Omnis Studio, Visual Basic and C.

We have been using Omnis
from Raining Data since the early 1990s to offer rapid application
development of platform independant software across Mac, Windows and
Linux systems, with high reliability end product.
For several years we worked with LSA Technology
Ltd of Marple to implement and then maintain a care hire system
for a client of LSA.
Les Rosser of LSA
we have a need for extra expertise to deal with a short-term increase
in software work, we know we can turn to Malcolm Cowen of Cowen
Software. Malcolm has not only designed and built systems for us
in Omnis and Visual Basic, he has provided a full followup support
according to our needs. Even if the problem occurs in the middle
of the night, we have still been able to call on him, and his input
has frequently been critical to our success in resolving our client's
Since 2002 we have been working with Brunning and Price, a Cheshire
based chain of pub/restaurents, converting two of their old Omnis
7 system to Omnis Studio, adding new functionality and converting
the database from Omnis format to a SQL database.
In 2005 we took over an Omnis 7 to Omnis Studio conversion for Snowdonia
Windows, a family run company with sites in Mold / Y Wyddgrug, Caernarfon
and Nantwich. We completed the project, produced documentation,
and are currently implementing a staged series of enhancements to
In 2004 we provided Omnis 7 expertise to KB Logic, a NW England
Software Engineering Consultancy. They needed to export large amounts
of data from an old Omnis 7 system. We were able to provide the
export procedures required to complete their project.
A client of LSA,
a Greater Manchester recruitment agency, required a database of employers
and temp workers showing skiils and past records. The system included
- Listing of workers skills and past work record
- Lists of barred and approved workers by employee
- Matching of employers needs with workers skills
to select a software generated short list of suggested candidates.
Cowen Software designed and implemented the system
for LSA in Visual Basic as a client
/ server system accessing a SQL Server
database and provided after sales support as required.
C and OS9
On two occasions we have been called in by Bob Cox, first as MD
of TLO Technology Limited, then of Ohmega Systems Ltd, a subcontractor
[of Cowen Software] was brought in by TLO as a software sub-contractor
on a project carried out for British Sugar Plc. The project had
been started by a TLO software engineer who left, leaving the software
unfinished and not fully commissioned. It is normally quite difficult
for another software engineer to be able to modify and develop another
software engineer's work, especially in this case, because the software
was written in C and assembler, running under OS/9 in real time,
and blown into EPROM's in a VME system. Malcolm not only managed
to pick up from where the previous software engineer left off, but
completed the project within the original time-scale, with improvements
and enhancements within the software. We have no hesitation in recommending
Malcolm as a software engineer, and are sure that he is able to
apply the same skills and dedication shown during his period with
us, on whatever project he is given." Bob Cox,
then MD of TLO Technology Limited.
Peugeot Motors had a set of programmable barcode readers, which
required changes to fit changed requirements. Unfortunately the
software house which had written the C software declined to support
it. There was no development system, compiler, or definative source,
and inadequate documentation.
Cowen Software recovered master sources, established a development
and compilation system, and carried out the required changes to
