Our committment to Support
As part of our committment to you, we guarantee
ongoing support when you need it. Much of our business has come
from clients who have been abandoned by their previous software
suppliers. We have taken over their software, built and documented
proper procedures, and then enhanced their systems as required.
Destinations Holiday Network
(XML/XSL and VBScript / Access and VBScript))
The client had experienced problems with their previous hosting
company. When LSA
took over the hosting two critical websites did not work, and certain
files appeared to be missing. Working on behalf of LSA we rebuilt
the Access / VBScript website over a weekend, and debugged a faulty
XML/XSL/VBScript based website over the next few days. We later
enhanced the XML/ XSL/ VBScript website with new functionality.

Woolworths, Rochdale (Tandem
SQL / Cobol)
Cowen Software were contracted to work on a Tandem data warehouse,
written in SQL / COBOL. The system documentation was mostly missing
or out-of-date and the up-to-date sources for the programs had been
lost.
As part of our work we:
- Initiated and implemented documentation of the
system.
- Recovered the latest sources and set up a new
Software Release procedure.
- Set up standards for development and a skeleton
for one-off fixes.
C and OS9
On two occasions we have been called in
by Bob Cox, first as MD of TLO Technology Limited, then of Omega Systems
Ltd, as a subcontractor to Peugeot.
British Sugar
"Malcolm Cowen
[of Cowen Software] was brought in by TLO as a software sub-contractor
on a project carried out for British Sugar Plc. The project had
been started by a TLO software engineer who left, leaving the software
unfinished and not fully commissioned. It is normally quite difficult
for another software engineer to be able to modify and develop another
software engineer's work, especially in this case, because the software
was written in C and assembler, running under OS/9 in real time,
and blown into EPROM's in a VME system. Malcolm not only managed
to pick up from where the previous software engineer left off, but
completed the project within the original time-scale, with improvements
and enhancements within the software. We have no hesitation in recommending
Malcolm as a software engineer, and are sure that he is able to
apply the same skills and dedication shown during his period with
us, on whatever project he is given." Bob Cox,
then MD of TLO Technology Limited.
Peugeot Motors
Peugeot Motors had a set of programmable barcode readers, which
required changes to fit changed requirements. Unfortunately the
software house which had written the C software declined to support
it. There was no development system, compiler, or definative source,
and inadequate documentation.
Cowen Software recovered master sources, established a development
and compilation system, and carried out the required changes to
the software.
e-bshop
We took over this ebook website in a somewhat disorganised state,
with some sections of the online selling pages non-functional. We
redesigned the structure of the site, while preserving the look and
feel of the system, to provide a reliable and maintainable system.
